Cycling

msg10-08743.jpgNothing beats the thrill of getting out on the bike. Whether it be hitting the country roads or rolling through the urban streets, not much can compare to the feeling of freedom and the accomplishment of knowing that you got somewhere under your own power.

I am in two clubs, bike north, which caters for casual riders and always has safety in mind for any of its rides, and lidcombe-auburn cycling club (LACC), which has it's roots in racing and offers some very challenging training rides.

I race occasionally, you may find me in C/D group races held by LACC or on the cycling NSW calendar. I am still learning the ropes, so my results are nothing magnificent, often just finishing the race and getting know a course is an accomplishment for me.

They say that bicycle racing is much like a rolling game of chess - this could not be more true. It is a game of strategy as much as it is a pure physical endurance sport. You learn about your limits, how to budget your energy, and also about teamwork in that everyone can have a strategic role to play.
